Effects of Technology in Primary Schools
Source of article.
The article above was written by Grant Warren Sherson and talked about The Impact of Technolgy on Primary Schools in New Zealand.
The article looks at some of the ways in which technology has impacted on primary school teaching and the threats and opportunities technology may bring in the future.
One of the threats in which Grant Sherson talked about was the fact that technology in schools becomes obselete very quickly and some schools may be using technology which may not be helping students to learn to their full capacity. He also states that a blind adoption of technology just for the sake of having it may be doing more harm than good for education.
Another threat in which Grant Sherson states is the fact that technology is being put into schools and some teachers do not have sufficient training to use this in an effective way for student learning effectively wasting quality learning time.
However Sherson also argues that putting computer technology into schools benefits students as it makes tomorrow’s workforce competitve in an incresingly high dependent technological world.
Personally i think that if teachers are trained in the use of technology to further enhance student learning correctly and schools keep up to date with computer programs, that technology is an excellent resource to be used in schools. However if tecahers do not use technology to enhance student learning correctly than as Sherson states, more harm than benefit will arise in education.
